Yes, Vintage Clothing Has Trends, Too—These 6 Are Popping Right Now https://ift.tt/q7ij8Cw

It's true: What comes around tends to go back around eventually. Since we know that fashion is cyclical in nature, it should come as no surprise when we see trends resurrect themselves from the past—and now more than ever, nostalgia is very in. The fashion crowd is always revisiting the archives in order to reinvent the wheel for the seasons to come, fixating on one decade or period of time before moving on to the next. In the past several seasons alone, we've cycled through retro '70s prints'80s neon brightsand '90s minimalism.

We're constantly inundated with reemerging vintage themes, which keeps us on our toes and keeps us going back to our favorite secondhand outlets for the latest drops. One such source for some of the most sought-after vintage clothing is Aberizk, downtown NYC's newest outpost offering up rare vintage alongside hard-to-find emerging designer labels. Today, we're tapping its co-founders Allison Aberizk and Justin Xavier who are sharing the "trends" that they're prioritizing right now when curating the store's A+ vintage selection.

Now, let's meet the experts. "We were inspired to open a store that offers one-of-a-kind pieces for people who want to stand out from the crowd," the duo tells us. Bringing together Allison's background as a vintage buyer and Justin's eclectic personal style, the store has a singular perspective that hones in on those cult-favorite pieces and brings them all together in one place. From the knit crop top Kendall Jenner wore last summer to a pair of hand-painted jeans spotted on Pete Davison, consider Aberizk your source for the kind of celeb-approved "IYKYK" pieces.

They also shared some of their best-selling vintage pieces with is, which include suede fur-trim jackets, '90s rever-printed tops, leather blazers, and of course, vintage Levi's. Continue on to see (and shop) the six vintage clothing trends they're backing.

Topping their list of must-buy vintage items are all things cargo. While cargo pants are popping as a major spring 2022 trend, Aberizk and Xavier point to oversized parachute pants, baggy boyfriend pants, and cargo skirts as the items to look for when hunting for secondhand gems. These can be worn oversized as a low-rise style as styled on the store's Instagram feed @shop_aberizk or belted at the waist.

We've seen "dad" jackets in all shapes and sizes lately, so it should come as no surprise why they pointed to these leather racer jackets as the next big outerwear trend to know. Inspired by Italian streetwear style, they feature a single-button collar with a boxy, oversized fit and according to Aberizk, the colored leather options are personal favorites.

With all things Y2K and late '90s trending hard, chunky platform shoes—from boots to oxfords—are officially "It". While plenty of new options exist in the market currently, Aberizk and Xavier are all about sourcing original versions when buying vintage.

Call it the Miu Miu effect, but mini-skirts are top of mind for Aberizk and Xavier. Pleated schoolgirl-inspired skirts, denim minis, and leather mini skirts are all the top styles on their radar.

Another key vintage theme they pointed out? Extra-fuzzy knits. "Sweaters or sweater vests with lots of texture from the yarns or different gauge knits are big on our radar. Cashmere or mohair blends are always great," they shared.

Naturally, it wouldn't be a story about reviving older trends if we didn't cover a hotly-debated one: early-aughts denim. Whether it be a patchwork style, low-rise fit, or flared shape, the team at Aberizk confirmed our suspicions that we're headed towards a complete Y2K denim takeover.
