I Spot Micro-Trends Like It's My Job—Here Are 6 Are About to Blow Up https://ift.tt/37Sh8jj

Welcome to Micro-Trends. In this series, I'm zeroing in on the hyper-specific iterations of what's trending at large, and I've become somewhat of an expert at spotting them. (Okay, it's basically a pastime of mine at this point.) Once you discover this month's micro-trends, consider yourself an insider.

Here at Who What Wear, we focus a lot of our energy on the biggest trends of the season and while we'll never stop covering the heavy-hitters, there are several micro-trends worthy of honorary mentions. While these aren't causing major style moves yet, we firmly believe that it's only a matter of time until they graduate from micro to macro or, in other words, from niche to mainstream.

After hours of online shopping (all in the name of research!), I'm sharing the micro-trends on my radar at the moment. I've spotted these pieces on the feeds of the most influential women I know and stocked at several key retailers, which tells me that each of them is on the brink of becoming huge. From the new print trend that's about to rival animal print to the sweater trend that will update all your winter outfits, keep reading to see and shop the six micro-trends of the moment.

Marbled print is about to rival your beloved leopard, snake, and zebra prints in 2020 and it honestly feels so fresh. It's defined by psychedelic-inspired swirls that look a lot like the pattern you'd find in a block of marble. Try out the party-ready dresses from 16Arlington for your next night out or incorporate a swirly top from Paloma Wool into your everyday look with jeans.
Everyone's favorite structured bags are getting an upgrade with a peculiar shape that instantly reminded us of, well, eggs. You've already seen Staud's infamous Moon Bag, but now it's time to acquaint yourself with the versions from emerging label Coperni and editor-favorite Hayward.
Your go-to blazer just got a brand-new look. It's all about a slightly off-centered and asymmetrical construction that takes the classic and somewhat "boring" jacket and makes it feel completely fresh and forward.
What's better than wearing one sweater? Wearing two. Without actually piling on two different sweaters, try this layered-effect look instead. Isabel Marant pioneered this one with their version that appears to be a vest on top of another sweater but is, in fact, a single piece. The bold-shouldered look is vaguely '80s-inspired and will definitely spice up your winter outfits.
Two charming jewelry trends are combining—glass jewelry and heart jewelry—and the results are even sweeter than we could have imagined. Catch our editor in chief Kat testing out the look with her whimsical necklace.
Peasant tops are one thing, but bibs? They're on an entirely new level. Ganni really broke the ground on this trend but now that several other designers are offering similar billowy blouses, we're finally taking note of the growing micro-trend (or should we say cult?).

Speaking of upcoming trends, these are the color trends fashion girls will cling to in 2020.
