It's H&M Haul Time—I Tried 17 Pieces and Would Buy These 9 Right Away https://ift.tt/2OOSj3i

It's officially spring, which means it's time for an H&M shopping haul! H&M's catalog is so vast that finding the best pieces requires some digging, and I've done all the hard work for you. Of the 17 items I tried on, these nine hit the mark when it came to versatility and fit. I intentionally chose trendy basics, such as an oversize button-down and a satin miniskirt, that will serve to both complement and refresh your existing wardrobe. To give you a head start on outfit ideas, I styled each piece with basics of my own and included sizing notes on how everything fit. The pieces were easy to match with things I already had, and I can already tell they will be making several appearances in the coming months.

Below are the nine items I would buy and the best comparable pieces that exist across the internet. All these picks are under $100 and look way more expensive than they are. Plus, to my surprise, some of them just went on sale! Keep scrolling to see everything your closet will need for a spring refresh.

An oversize button-down is absolutely necessary for the warmer months. It can be dressed up and down and goes with everything. The one I'm wearing is long and voluminous—so much so that it could also be worn as a dress. I paired it with pleated trousers for an after-work, literally unbuttoned look. This is a size small that is made with an oversize fit.
I love when shirts are so long they hide my hands. The XL cuff will look good styled with a bunched sleeve, too.

This will be chic for business or the beach.
You can pair this with both the dark and light colors in your wardrobe.
This sheer metallic fabric is a winner. And at this price, you better run!
This denim shirtdress gave what it was supposed to give! The denim was thick enough to hold its form and stretchy enough to hug the body. I love how the top half is roomier, which gives the effect of a denim top tucked into a skirt. I added a grommet belt to conceal the horizontal seam at the waist and toughen it up a bit. The size 6 fit me like a glove.

Get your hands on it while you can! This dress is sold out pretty much everywhere.
I'd style it just like this, easy.
This one fits like a going-out dress. I'd style it with bedazzled heels for dramatic effect.
This blazer is so lightweight that I decided to wear it as I would a cardigan, and I paired it with track pants and a cropped ribbed tank. It hits my thigh at the perfect elongating length and is a nice contrast to the cropped top. I'm wearing a size medium, but I would size up to a large to get a bit more of the oversize look.

It's perfect—you're welcome.
Tell me you're the boss without telling me you're the boss.
Necessary attire for living in the matrix.
Wear with jean cutoffs and lug-sole boots for a Hailey Bieber–inspired look.
I didn't expect to be as obsessed with these pants as I was. They are so thick and soft! The ribbing expands to hug the body, and the vertical lines make your legs look crazy long. I decided to lean into the lengthening effect and paired them with a short heel. I'm wearing a size small, but they are so stretchy that I would size down to an XS.

Perfect for looking chic while exploring a new city. Shop the matching Ribbed-Knit Top ($220).
Wear this ankle-length pair with loafers or low sneakers. Shop the matching Sweater Vest ($21).
This print, though.
Living in L.A., a cropped cardigan is my layer of choice for chilly nights because it hits the waist, adding shape to your outfit. This roomy, cozy cardigan is perfect for dining alfresco and has charming iridescent buttons that remind me of the beach. I'm wearing a size small here, which hugs me around the waist while leaving plenty of space everywhere else.

Holy moly guacamole, I would probably fall asleep in this cardi-blanket.
A conservative silhouette paired with peepholes gives just enough while maintaining mystery.
The narrow ribbing around the waist and wider ribbing everywhere else just makes sense. This will go with everything.
I can see myself wearing this outfit to pick up my nonexistent daughter from tennis. This vest has the kind of roomy, utilitarian pockets that allow you to forego a purse, which is my preference. The V-neck cut buttons just above the bust, so it can also be worn as a top. It's made to fit oversize; I'm wearing a size small here.
To balance the Upper East Side vibes, I paired it with an old gray sweatshirt that I turned inside out and the ribbed-knit pants mentioned earlier. Did I mention the blingy buttons?!

How cute! Hilary Banks vibes.
Wear this with jeans for a business lunch. Shop the matching Mini Skirt ($39).
The high-neck, boxy cut is classic.
I love that this flouncy satin skirt provides ample room to move around unrestricted, which is a rarity when it comes to skirts. It drapes beautifully on the body and slips on easily due to a concealed elastic waistband. I'm wearing it with a knit sweater that I tucked in to provide some shape. It would also go well with the oversize blazer or the cropped cardigan mentioned earlier. The size small is perfect for me.

Definitely popping out in this.
Double down on the lace-up detail by adding strappy heels.
The roaring twenties are upon us.
These boots are so comfortable that I tried to incorporate them into every outfit! They are spacious around the calf, avoiding any uncomfortable friction, and the kitten heel is a breeze to walk in. I'm pretty picky when it comes to faux leather, and this pair looks way more expensive than it is. I'm wearing my usual size 8, which provides enough room for socks.

I've never seen snake print in this firey color.
The lace-up detail provides some edge to this preppy style. Miss Trunchbull is shaking right now.
The buckles feel very vintage Prada.
I found these swim trunks in the men's section—the electric-pink color immediately caught my eyes. Made in a quick-dry fabric, these are the only shorts you'll need for outdoor activities this summer. I'm wearing them with high-cut bikini bottoms that peek above the shorts for a '90s-inspired outfit. The men's size small fits me perfectly.

I love how this tie-dye print looks naturally rusted.
You can get away with wearing these to dinner, too.
Everyone needs a pair of these. They will never get old.
