I wrote a story about the 20 best-selling items on Who What Wear, which included a stylish variety of products from $3 Amazon pearl hair clips to a $68 five star nude bra to $215 ultra-soft skinny jeans. But there was one product that made an appearance three times and sold the most units compared to any other item. You may be surprised to hear it’s one of the simplest items we all own in our closet: the basic white tee.
According to our data team, these three T-shirts below have been consistent best sellers with our readers. They range from $7 to $92 and all possess a similar silhouette: short sleeves, a crew neck, and a slightly loose fit through the body.
But we all know that not all white tees are created equal, and as someone who essentially lives in white tees seven days a week, I was eager to test-drive them for myself. If you’re on the hunt for a perfect white tee, scroll below to see my thoughts on the best sellers—listed in order of my favorites—and shop more of the best white tees on the market right now.
This $7 basic from Amazon came in first place for me in terms of style, silhouette, and comfort. I was hesitant when I ordered it. For the low cost, I thought it was going to be sheer and uncomfortable. But in fact, it was quite the opposite. The quality is surprisingly good for $5—there is no trace of your bra showing underneath (hallelujah!), and the arm length and neckline were really nice fitting. There is a reason that this has remained a best seller on Who What Wear for the past year. Hands down, this is the best $5 you'll spend!
This definitely was another one of my absolute favorites and came in very close behind the Amazon tee. While this one is the priciest out of the three, in my eyes, it's definitely worth it.
The fabric is lovely quality and by far the softest out of the three T-shirts. I love the slinky way the T-shirt falls through the body and the slightly lower neckline is super flattering. With a boxier cropped silhouette, this is a better tee to let hang over jeans rather than tuck in. I personally really like the vintage 1950s aesthetic.
While I did really like the look of this tee (and it sells like hotcakes by the way!), it felt slightly stiffer and more restrictive than I had anticipated. I personally just really like super soft-feeling tees, but if you like them slightly stiffer, this is a great option. I also found the neckline much higher than I usually like to wear my crew-necks, which I wasn't used to. On the plus side, it's not at all sheer, and it feels like good quality. This also comes in a longer version if you're looking for a slightly looser fit.
