There’s no question that are leggings are getting a considerable amount of wear in our day-to-day lives as settle into our new “shelter in place’ reality. From workouts at home to lounging in front of Netflix—they’ve quickly become one of the hardest working items in our wardrobes. While boxy tees and oversize cardigans have been my personal go-to items to pair with my stretchy leggings (and an occasional non-restrictive poplin blouse for Zoom meetings), I was curious to see how my fellow fashion-forward team have been styling their own leggings these past few weeks. From ribbed tanks and cozy sweaters to oversize button downs and cropped hoodies, take a peek below to get inspired as our Who What Wear editors share how they’re wearing their leggings right now and shop our favorite pairs on the market.
"Recently, I've come around to the idea of wearing leggings as pants—so that's exactly how I decided to wear them here. Adding a simple open-front button-down, mules, and my everyday jewelry, the outfit feels comfortable enough to wear at home, but something I'll be wearing outside in the future.""Lately I've been wearing leggings with casual tops that I'd typically wear with jeans, like this Donni pullover with pearl buttons. It makes me feel like I tried a little. I've also been pairing them with these moccasin (which are my new favorite house shoes) instead of sneakers, which I reserve for outside.""My legging vibe these days is a mix of lounge and workout-ready since I like going right from doing an online workout class to hopping online for work (and vice versa). I love a matching set for exactly this reason because it takes all the effort out of putting together a solid outfit and I still feel somewhat put together throughout the day. Right now, it's this ribbed set from Carbon38 I've been wearing nonstop.""I actually bought these split leggings with the full intention of wearing them out but, for now, I'm staying comfy at home and styling them with ribbed tanks, sweaters, and, of course, slippers.""While most days I pair my leggings with cozy sweatshirts, tees and oversize cardigans, occasionally I like to slip on a breezy and billowy blouse with my basic black leggings (particularly on days where I have Zoom meetings and virtual hang outs with friends). I like effortless poplin style blouses with tiers the best—they’re roomy, easy, and non-restricting. I feel like wearing something pretty on top is the sartorial equivalent of a bright lipstick and it unquestionably helps up my style game and morale. On my feet, I tend to switch between loafer slippers and cushy slides.""I have been trying to maintain some sort of structure to my day while adjusting to this working from home lifestyle, and for me, the biggest game-changer has been continuing my usual workouts at home (as best I can). Whether it's before work or after, exercising has been keeping me busy and giving me something to look forward to throughout the week. Matching bra and legging sets keep things simple, outfit-wise. I feel pulled-together with literally zero effort. Basically, I'm trying to give myself no excuses to skip out on staying healthy and mentally stimulated!""For me, leggings are pretty much reserved for working out. They’re not an item I typically slip into while lounging around the house, nor do I relish the opportunity to wear them outside unless I’m en route to some sort of fitness endeavor. These Year of Ours leggings are the only exception. They’re a bit more stylized than your average legging, without going completely OTT with a wild print or color. The curved waistline and lace-up detail also make them fit comfortably snug, without digging into my stomach.""A slightly dressier top helps make my leggings feel a tad more special. I'm into this capri length, as it feels vaguely Jacquemus. Add an Olsen-approved flip flop and a headband, and I'm ready for another day of working from home."
