As experienced wedding guests, we know outfit planning for a busy wedding season can be tricky. While it may be tempting — and, at times, valid — to wear the same look to more than one wedding, taking a more bespoke approach is a foolproof way to maximize your enjoyment of the event itself.

Weddings can sometimes share common threads, but for the most part, each one has its own unique energy — and the location is a big reason for this. So, when you have a wedding at an all-inclusive resort one week and a chic downtown ceremony the next, you'll want to explore different looks that align with each distinct venue. Inspired by the newest pieces from Laundry by Shelli Segal, we've outlined some of the most popular wedding settings of the season and how to dress for them.

Generally speaking, couples who opt for exchanging nuptials in a more urban setting tend to lean toward a more upscale, contemporary design. Honor that aesthetic with something bold and sleek with a cosmopolitan edge. Most city celebrations tend to be later in the day, so a chic evening gown is perfectly acceptable. Balance out a floor-skimming hemline with a playful color, and keep the accessories to a minimum. The best part? Longer dresses offer the potential for hiding a more comfortable pair of low heels, so you'll be able to dance until sunrise with ease.

Weekend getaways provide an opportunity to turn a wedding into an experience, so it's important to pack with that in mind. Our suggestion: go for a flowy maxi dress — a longer hemline is the easiest way to feel dressy without having to try too hard. It's even better if your dress has its own embellished hardware, so there's less need to wear (and pack) a lot of accessories. Oh, and don't forget sleepwear. Depending on how close you are with the wedding party, there's potential for mornings spent with the bride and friends. A sweet set is a far better choice than your well-loved sweats and holey college tee.

A flowing, breezy silhouette and pretty sandals you can wear for whatever the itinerary calls for (and also slip off easily if the ceremony is beachside proper) are must haves for a tropical destination wedding. An interesting neckline eliminates the need for packing much jewelry and allows for a flash of skin to be the main accessory. One of the best things about a tropical wedding is that there's no better time to play with brighter colors and patterns. From rainbow blends to chevron, it's the perfect opportunity to lean into your more playful side. Finish the look with colorful earrings or a clutch, and you'll be ready for any sandy-chic soirée.

Thanks to the natural surroundings, as well as the more intimate atmosphere of the event, most garden weddings are designed to feel laidback and relaxed. Lean into the warm weather and informal setting in a dress with shorter hem. (We suggest balancing out the cropped length with an empire waist or a structured, A-line skirt.) And don't be afraid to incorporate a floral print into your look — it's not groundbreaking, but it's a fun way to play up the venue's natural and whimsical elements.

If you've got more than one type of wedding on your calendar for the summer, a great way to plan ahead is to opt for the same set of accessories that work for every kind of setting. From verdant to urbane, gold droplet earrings, chic sunnies, a bold clutch, or a delicate metallic shawl can be the perfect plus-ones for any theme or venue.
