While grandma dressing is certainly nothing new, there are particular grandma trends that come and go every year. Each season brings a new set of trends that can most likely be found buried in your grandma's closet because fashion is cyclical and what's old is new again faster than you can blink. We already brought you the ones that were blowing up for summer, so today we're here to touch on the retro trends that fashion girls will be clamoring for come September. From the colored jewelry you swore you'd never wear to the sweater trend all of your grandparents probably still love, the below five retro trends are going to be everywhere this fall.
Pistachio jewelry and accessories are going to take the fashion world by storm. This season, we're setting aside our gold pieces and basic black bags in favor of pretty colored styles reminiscent of the costume jewelry I used to play with in my grandmother's closet.
While sweater sets were once reserved for grandparents and prep schools, this fall, fashion girls around the globe will be pairing theirs with everything from vintage denim to loose trousers. You can dip a toe in this trend pool by simply tying a sweater of a similar color family around your shoulders, or dive right in with a matching sweater set.
Croc-effect accessories are reminiscent of the belts and handbags I used to see my grandparents wearing—but today they're the luxe-looking trend popping up on everything for fall. The best part about mock croc is that it pretty much always looks expensive, regardless of price tag, and instantly elevates an outfit with its rich texture.
Faux-fur jackets are usually associated with tights, chain purses, and walking a small dog (just me?), but as of late, fashion girls are itching to add this textural layer to the top of every fall outfit. It adds interest to your look, and you can typically find nice faux furs at affordable prices.
Blame Celine, but what was once considered a boring trend is now all the fashion world can talk about for fall 2020. The bourgeois trend encompasses everything from tweed blazers to silk scarves to A-line midi skirts to precise tailoring, and fashion girls are going to be wearing all of them (probably together) as soon as the weather allows.
