I was introduced to my very first mascara all the way back in 2012, and it was that perfect, cannot-go-a-day-without-it kind of product. Two years later, I went to repurchase a tube of the Fresh Supernova Mascara and it was nowhere to be found. I asked friends, tried to wrangle one from a salesgirl at the Fresh counter, and scoured the internet for a spare tube. I didn’t know what I had until it was gone—because she was a good mascara; reliable, never clumpy and the type that gave soft, lush volume to my straight-as-a-stick lashes. Since then, I’ve filled the hole with Maybelline’s Full ’N Soft Washable Mascara, but I’d do anything for a swipe of my first favourite. Turns out, even Vogue editors aren’t immune to the discontinued product heartache, and the anger, frustration and denial that follows. Here, seven editors share their most mourned products. May they forever rest in peace, (or may the beauty gods hear our prayers and resurrect these MVPs).

The product: Vichy Dermablend Skin Concealer in Tan
The eulogy: I first found this product in 2008 at a skin clinic in the UK, and the last time I used it was on my wedding day in 2015. This concealer was industrial strength, would not budge, did not need a corrector or a setting powder—and served as my holy grail through sweat, rain and tears. Truly waterproof and true to colour, this concealer did not oxidise, turn grey through the day or settle into creases. I had three tubes of this at all times. On my wedding day, after prepping my eyes for the rest of my new life with Vichy Dermablend Skin Concealer, I gave my last tube to a cousin for safekeeping, and that was the last time I ever saw it.
Heidi Volpe, creative director
The product: Dr Hauschka Hydrating Mask
The eulogy: The hydrating mask left my skin looking dewy and fresh. I loved the consistency and the smell of this product. I’d often leave it on longer than directed, since I was living in a dry and high elevation environment. They replaced it with the Hydrating Cream Mask, but I wish they would bring the original one back.
Priyanka Khanna, associate fashion features editor
The product: Benefit Eye Kohl in Onyx
The eulogy: Every time I travelled, I used to stock pile these. It was the perfect kohl pencil—it didn’t smudge and gave me a deep black line, which I loved.
Anaita Shroff Adajania, fashion director
The product: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture
The eulogy: I felt like it was made for me, just the perfect hint of ’60s glam… and then it just stopped appearing.
Priyanka Parkash, fashion coordinator and stylist
The product: Benefit Moon Beam Highlighter
The eulogy: I jumped onto the highlighter bandwagon before YouTube vloggers made it popular. My makeup is divided into two bags—highlighters and the rest of it—so I was shattered when one of my favourite golden glows was discontinued.
Sneha Mankani, junior beauty editor
The product: Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadows
The eulogy: You know how shimmery eyeshadows can give you glitter tears (because glitter does tend to sprinkle all over)—a runway trend you didn’t intend on trying? Well, this one never does, or did. Because it’s not powdery, it won’t fly, fall or spread. Yes, there are now multiple formulas that come in sticks and creams, but there’s something about this good ol’ pot that still hasn’t quite met its match yet. Bring it back please, so I don’t have to cry glitter tears and can just have my shiny, metallic eyes on display.
Chandni Sehgal, senior copy editor
The product: M.A.C Lustre Lipstick in Dressmaker, Dressmaker
The eulogy: I’ve never been much of a makeup collector or experimenter. Instead, I stick to self-created classics and hoard the products I need. My favourite look is kajal-lined eyes and coral pout, made with the M.A.C Dressmaker, Dressmaker lipstick. The creamy, glossy coral-peach was a favourite and I was more than a little upset when I found out it was a limited edition colour.
